Throwing for Beginners
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
About the Course
This hands-on course will introduce you to the fundamentals of wheel throwing — from centering clay and pulling forms, to trimming and glazing your finished pieces. With expert guidance and plenty of practice time, you’ll build confidence on the wheel and create a collection of your own ceramic work to take home. This course is suitable for beginners who have never thrown before, or those who have had little experience. Classes will take place on Friday mornings (9:30am-12:30pm) and Friday afternoons (1pm-4pm).

Frequently Asked Questions
-
You should wear comfortable clothes which you don’t mind getting a bit of clay on! Layers can be a good idea as temperatures can be a little variable. All students should wear comfortable, flat shoes with non-slip soles and covered toes, and bring an apron/cover-up. Long hair should be tied back for wheel work. We also recommend that jewellery, watches and other valuables are left at home.
