WHAT TO EXPECT
What’s Included
Potter experience days 10am - 4pm. There are a maximum of 10 people in a class, with at least 2 experienced teachers taking care of the group. They run on the last Saturday of each month
-
You’ll begin with a quick studio tour before diving into hand-building techniques like slab-building and working with moulds. You'll make a piece such as a mug or vase, perfect for getting comfortable with clay.
After a tea-and-cake break, we’ll move on to surface decoration — experimenting with texture and colour to bring your piece to life.
-
Take a well-earned break with a delicious home-cooked two-course lunch, served with refreshments in our light-filled dining area.
-
After lunch, it’s time to try your hand at the pottery wheel. Our tutor will demonstrate the essentials — centring, lifting, and shaping — before you jump on the wheel yourself. You’ll practise both cylinders and bowls, and you’ll be encouraged to keep one or two of your best pieces.
-
Any pieces you choose to keep will be fired and glazed by our team. This process takes time (up to 4 weeks), but we’ll let you know as soon as your work is ready for collection. Please note we’re only able to store finished work for 2 months due to limited space.
-
All clay, glazes, and tools are provided as well as a delicious home-cooked two-course lunch with refreshments, so you can simply come along and enjoy the process
