Ian MorrisonIntensive Throwing for Improvers
19th - 21st February 2027 | 3 Day Workshop | £550
In this intensive three-day workshop, Ian will guide participants to elevate their practice by mastering professional wheel-throwing techniques and refining their existing skills.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
The Course in Detail
This three-day intensive workshop is designed to elevate students’ studio practice by translating raw concepts into refined, professional ceramic forms. Under Ian’s expert guidance, students will master the mechanics of throwing for production, focusing on precise repetition, scaling up their work, and successfully translating 2D sketches into 3D clay structures.
The workshop will focus heavily on functional design, specifically targeting cookware, kitchen utensils, and the architecture of various lid styles and handles. Beyond the wheel, Ian will share his essential problem-solving strategies for navigating complex, multi-part shapes. With ample dedicated studio time, every student will receive tailored, one-on-one mentorship to overcome technical bottlenecks and refine their personal technique.
Students’ pieces will be fired following the workshop and will be ready to collect at a later date.
Please note, there will be a small additional firing charge for final pieces. Please see our Student Contract for details.
