Elena Gileva Glost Glaze

An Introduction to Glaze

29th October 2026 | 1 Day Workshop | Β£100

This one day session will allow students to learn the basics of glaze making and get familiar with the process of mixing a base glaze and creating a colour palette.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Course in Detail

The world of glaze making can seem complicated and daunting, particularly when faced with many anonymous looking powders -  this workshop is designed to allow students to get familiar with key materials used in glaze making, their properties and uses.

This workshop will to give students the opportunity to explore the world of glazing and gain the basic skills and understanding of the process.

Glaze making is a complex process that requires both theoretical and practical knowledge. During this session students will familiarise themselves with materials, basic glaze chemistry as well as learn the step by step process that they can later implement in their own studio setting.

There will be hands-on and theoretical exercises where students will learn to read and analyse glaze recipes, how to mix them as well as line blend glazes to create a wider colour/texture range out of a base glaze.

Please see our Student Contract for details.
